Cost of Casualty Evacuation
Casualty evacuation vehicles are not evaluated by the standards of conventional commercial transport. How much does it cost to save a life? One person. One whole universe. Approximately 220 EUR. Want me to explain?
Field experience shows that vehicle configuration directly affects:
- the speed of casualty loading and unloading
- the stability of medical procedures during movement
- crew fatigue and overall operational efficiency
- survival rates during evacuation in complex conditions
Therefore, even minor technical decisions (flooring type, mounting points, interior handles and handrails, availability of IV mounting fixtures) can have a significant impact on mission outcome.
We provide modification solutions based on mission requirements, payload type, and operating conditions.

What Determines the Cost of a Casualty Evacuation Vehicle?
At the beginning of the full-scale invasion, some people questioned certain decisions we make when converting medical vehicles.
For example, we were often asked:
- Why aluminum flooring, if it is more expensive than wood or plywood?
- Why new tires, if the vehicle may be damaged anyway?
- Why upgrade the suspension if it will not last forever?
The key point for us is simple: none of this is done for the vehicle. It is done for the people inside.
Whether the soldiers make it out alive can literally depend on the tires. The quality of the flooring affects how effectively and comfortably the medic can work, and whether it can be properly cleaned at all.
After building and equipping more than 200 vehicles for the military, we can say with certainty: trying to save money here is a bad idea. Not in this case.
Only reliable materials are used, down to the smallest components — even the rivets. Yes, it is not inexpensive (although that depends on what you compare it to). But the goal is not to create a mock-up of an evacuation vehicle. The goal is to save lives.
The Math Behind Saving Lives
On average, one such vehicle evacuates 70–200 people. This is, of course, an approximate estimate: some crews keep detailed records, others have no recorded evacuations, and with certain units we simply lose contact and cannot obtain the data.
Converting one vehicle into a fully functional evacuation platform costs approximately 8,888 EUR. This includes full servicing, quality tires, a complete equipment package, and the conversion work itself.
Plus the base vehicle — approximately 14,000 EUR.
Total cost per vehicle: ~22,888 EUR.
Simple math: divide the total cost by the number of lives saved. This results in approximately 326–115 EUR per life.
So the question is simple: is it worth it?
One whole universe — on average, 220 EUR.
Evacuation vehicles are conceptually similar, but differ in the details. They are defined by the quality of materials, equipment, and the ability to work with different materials. Choose quality and proven, flexible engineering — because every project is unique.
